After the revelations by the investigative reporters of CORRECTIV about right-wing extremist activities in Germany, it was clear for us at Parasol Island that we must publicly and explicitly take a stand for a free and diverse society. We rely on what we do best: creating strong messages, implementing clear designs, and presenting high visibility. To demonstrate our stance and to bring more people along, against right-wing extremist ideologies and for our vision for an Island of Diversity [“Insel der Vielfalt”].

»Jeder Jeck is anders« – Tolerance and Diversity

Over 100,000 participants attended the demonstration against right-wing extremism in Düsseldorf on January 27, 2024, including numerous colleagues and friends carrying the newly designed posters from our Island of Diversity. Many of our demo posters are meaningful statements for the fifth season in the Rhineland and the fundamental values of Carnival: joy of life, tolerance, and cosmopolitanism. Locally patriotic, but always open to the world. After all, in Düsseldorf, they say, “Jeder Jeck ist anders” [“Every jester is different”].

Our messages were thus part of one of the largest demonstrations in the history of Düsseldorf. The significant poster with the message “Helau statt Heil” [“Helau instead of Heil”] is even intended to be included in the collection of the House of History NRW – representing a piece of our shared history in the fight against right-wing extremist ideologies.

Since we are obviously not the only ones who oppose AfD and the shift to the right, we are sharing our poster templates with all of you. In the hope that many people will continue to take a stance and make a clear statement against radical ideologies.
